Off to work we go

Last week I had a conference and since it was on a Saturday and in DC, I just brought little Evan.  He got to ride in the metro for the first time!

He is trying to eat his stroller.  You can’t really tell from the photo that he’s on the metro, but he is.

This is a little better.  You can’t see his little work “uniform” and I forgot to take a better picture of it.  However, it says “When I grow up I want a job with justice.”  It was completely appropriate.

He was a hit at the conference.  It was a farmworker women’s conference so most of the attendees were Latina women.  The minute I arrived someone took him, changed his diaper, and gave him some lasagna and a piece of romaine lettuce to much on.  I hardly held him the entire time.  And he was on his best behavior.  I think I should take him to all my work events.

This past weekend was beautiful also – so we finally got to go on a walk without our big heavy coat.

I got the idea to put his toys on his car seat strap from Baby Kerf.  It was a great idea.  He can easily chew on his keys without being able to throw them overboard.

It was so nice last weekend that my husband shocked me by asking if I wanted to walk around the lake with him.  After I got over the shock, I said yes.  I’m not sure why my husband always tries to look like a gangster in photos, but I think he does it on purpose.

On the way to the lake we stopped at the park and went for a swing.  It was Evan’s first time in the swing (minus the time he went with his Godparents, but I wasn’t there).  He’s great at swinging.

We then stopped at the mini dam.  I made the family pose for a photo.

It was a fun family walk.  I was trying not to think about the paper I had to write, the exam I had to study for, and the packing I had to do.  When hubsters says he wants to go for a walk, I drop everything in excitement and go.  It’s that rare.

It was so wonderful having a nice weekend.  I can’t wait for the spring/summer to roll on in.  Actually, this past week it got really hot and I’m hoping that spring is here and going to stay.  We’ll see.
