Strange Mornings and Eating People's Birthday Presents

This morning was so odd.  I woke up at 4:30am to horrible thunderstorms, crazy lightening, and torrential downpour.  I must admit, it made it extra cozy in bed listening to the storm while under the covers.  However, I didn't really have much time to hang out in bed once the alarm went off.  However, by the time I was waiting for the bus at 6am the storm had stopped, the clouds were clearing, and the sun was bursting through the trees.  I was thankful because. I hate waiting for the bus in the pouring rain, but it was still strange.  Morning thunderstorms are a rarity around here, but it was a nice, calming way to wake up this morning.

Especially since we have a house of sick people.  My sister and her kids were sick over the weekend and then I babysat them, and then Evan got sick, and now The hubs and I are sick.  Not fun.  My throat hurts, my legs feel weak, and my head aches.  I hope it passes really quickly because I don't have a lot of patience with sickness, especially when I have a three-day weekend coming up and I have plans to go hiking, and two BBQs to host/attend.  Sickness be gone!!

Yesterday I did the unthinkable.  I didn't do a track workout because my friend wasn't feeling well and my hamstring his still tight, but rather than sleep in I woke up early and watched:

The Veronice Mars movie!!  My mom bought it for me for my bday and I hadn't had a chance to watch it, so I plopped it in the DVD player and finished the entire movie before 7:30am.  I still had time to shower and make breakfast before starting my workday at 8am.  And I loved the movie!  I was so excited to see so many of the old characters come back, pretty much everyone was there.  It was fun to see everyone ten years later and to see how things had turned out.  They left the show so up in the air.

I have also been making some interesting dinner concoctions these days.  The first one wasn't very good, but if you, like portobello mushrooms I think you'd enjoy it.

Portobello pizzas!  I baked a portobello mushroom and then stuffed it with quinoa mixed with tomato sauce and spices and then topped it with cheese.  It would have been delicious but. I couldn't get past the taste and texture of the mushroom.  Yuck.  I thought maybe the ingredients would mask the mushroom, but it didn't.

And on Tuesday I made taco lettuce wraps.

They were quite tasty.  Even The hubs liked them.  Evan?  Not so much.  He's not a meat eater these days.  He had cheese.

Ad then, please tell me I am not the only person who has done this.  I had two friends who had birthdays this week.  I bought one friend a vegan piece of cake from Whole Foods and I bought the other friend a bunch of cookies from the Whole Foods Bakery.  Then that night I ate three cookies (there were about 12) and I sliced off a thin piece of the cake to try.  How horrible, right!  Don't worry, I told them of my bad deed and they thought it was funny and no big deal...but still.  I ate their presents!  I bought my friend some soap too, but luckily. I didn't feel the need to try that out too.  Goodness gracious.

Ok, I'm gonna head to bed because I kinda feel like I ran 20 miles and then got ran over by a truck.  Hopefully a nice bus nap will completely revitalize me because I have a lot of work to do today.

  1. I love the Whole Foods bakery, so I don't blame you! :) Their cookies are awesome, and they have vegan cupcakes from our favorite bakery downtown!

    Hope you're feeling better!
