Now, I am not into very many beauty routines. I shower, I wash my hands, and every once in a while I slather some lotion on my legs. Oh, and I use a ton of chapstick. That's about it. However, I have bought into the idea that I should try and look my best on my wedding day. Get my hair nice, maybe lose five pounds, tone my arms, and get beautful skin. I am not doing very well on any of those fronts - except the skin part. Yes, I have adapted a skin routine. Scary thought.
I sadly admit I am not a face washer. It's embarrassing actually. I wash my face every morning in the shower - sometimes with bar soap and sometimes with a Neutrogena face wash. I think about washing my face at night, but I am usually soooo exhausted at night that I'm too lazy. It's all I can do to brush my teeth (and don't worry, I floss in the afternoon because my I am a night-flosser-failure). Now, I wouldn't say my skin is horrible. It's pretty clear. But, now I want perfect touchable skin. Wedding Day Skin.
And I do believe, my skin is softer. And those thought crinkles that appear on my forehead after a day of too much thinking are a little fainter. Ahh, touchable skin. Still - is it crazy for me to obsess about these little details?
Next beauty routine: nails. Good thing my loyal co-worker is on my nail-biting habit like a cat on a catnip-stuffed mouse toy. Unfortunately, I have my own office so she can't monitor me all day. I'm trying to stop though - really and truley.
Grow, nails, grow! I'm trying so hard not to eat you!

so...what do you think about barbie make-up for wedding day!! :-)
I can't believe you're a grown woman that looks that beautiful without any makeup! You're so lucky! I've been wearing a ton of makeup (strategically applied so it doesn't look like it) for about 15 years now. Because of that, I have been washing my face every night since then. I've been using Mary Kay products for about 10 years now - my skin is so dry (nice in high school - I had a grand total of about 10 pimples all four years), but not nice now. I have crows feet AND forehead wrinkles. I'm going to keep it up and hopefully I'll look as awesome as my mom when I'm her age. She could pass for 35 and she's FIFTY!
ReplyDeleteYeah - your Mom does look amazing. I think your skin looks beautiful too. I have very oily skin (which is grosser to think that I don't wash all that oil off of it) which was a pain in high school cuz I was so shiny, but it supposedly is a "preservative" so I'm hoping that helps as I age (gracefully). I never where make-up unless it's the most important event of a lifetime, but at times it being make-up-less makes me feel like a frump. So, the grass is always greener...right.
ReplyDeletewell you just let me know how it's going w/clinique. if you run into other problems, i'm sure i can steer you in the right direction. i am nothing if not obsessed with skin care products!
ReplyDeleteI love the picture you posted!!!!
ReplyDeleteAs I was reading this I was about to suggest the Clinique line! It really is worth washing your face @ night & the older you get the more important this is. Before weddind day, exfoliate very well & moisturize very well so that the make up can be applied to a smooth surface. By the way, it looks like you already have beautiful skin! Mary Kay also has a great skin care line. I will say that I love Olay products & they have great ratings & affordable too! I'm sure your going knock his socks off on wedding day!
